Background: Carter is a very young retired male so he would be a great addition to any family looking for a young dog that wants to skip the puppy stages. Carter is a chocolate and tan Merle, long coat male Chihuahua. He comes to you neutered and up to date on all core vaccines, including his Rabies and he is microchipped. Carter is a dominant male and would do best in a home without other male dogs. We do not want to place him in a home with small children, either. We are looking for a mature couple or individual who will give Carter time to acclimate to a new environment. Carter loves toys and loves to play, but he can be a real bully on our doggy playground with some of our other active males in our program. Carter sired one litter for us while we had him in our program and we opted to retire him because he isn't blending in. He does enjoy the company of other dogs though. He comes to you pee pad trained and dog door trained, as well as crate trained. He is a minimal barker. He is treat motivated. He is not leash trained but he is receptive to learning and would learn this quickly. He comes from wonderful bloodlines from SFC background. His father is a grand champion. (Look up SFC's Holiday Figg on the AKC database) He eats Purina ProPlan and loves it. This is a dog that would love to join you camping, hiking, fishing, etc. He loves the outdoors. He has been genetically health tested through Embark Vet. He has had his patellas, eyes and heart all certified with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals.

He has also had his Merle sine evaluated which means very little to a pet home, but he is a Harlequin Merle. He has seen an eye specialist to have his eyes certified, he had her patellas certified which are both free from luxation and his heart evaluated which is free of a murmur. All of this can be verified on the database of the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. 

 We cannot guarantee he is potty trained in a new environment though. We recommend having an open mind when adopting a young adult and plan to reintroduce potty training how you would want her trained. Carter is available to a local or out of state home. Shipping can be arranged for an additional charge. His name can be changed. 

 Like any of our other dogs we have available for adoption, we follow the 3-3-3 rule so please allow for time for her to adjust by using the chart below.  He is a little shy in new settings and with new people, but once he is comfortable he really is a sweet, sweet little love bug.

He has been genetically health tested with Embark and is clear in all breed relevant categories.
